The 18-year-old Brazilian Winger Gustavo Nunes has signed a six-year contract with Brentford. Brentford has also added an option to extend the deal for two years. The reported signing fee for Nunes is £ 10 million. Nunes only made his senior debut for Gremio in February but left the Brazilian side after making 20 top-flight appearances.
Brentford head coach Thomas Frank couldn’t hide his excitement – “I am very excited that we have managed to sign Gustavo. It is another good signing; we have fought with other clubs. He is a winger who can go past players one-on-one. He is direct, and he can create. Gustavo has a lot of potential, and of course, we need to maximize that in every aspect.
He needs time to settle, but this is a very exciting signing.” Nunes has become the Bees’ fourth signing of the summer so far, after Liverpool duo Fabio Carvalho and Sepp van den Berg, as well as Club Brugge striker Igor Thiago.
Ipswich Signs Ogbene from Luton
Ipswich Town has completed the signing of Chiedozie Ogbene from Luton Town for an undisclosed fee. The 27-year-old winger, who made 30 Premier League appearances for the Hatters last season, has penned a four-year deal at Portman Road.
He found the back of the net four times in the Premier League last season and registered the second-fastest top speed of any player in the top flight, behind only Tottenham Hotspur’s Micky van de Ven. Chiedozie Ogbene will wear the number 21 shirt for Ipswich and will join his new teammates immediately.
Chiedozie Ogbene spoke with Ipswich Town’s official channel ‘TownTV’ -
“I’m very excited and feel lucky to have this opportunity to play in the Premier League again,” I’ve had very positive chats with the manager, and for someone to believe in me that I could play at this level again means a lot to me and my family.
I know what he wants from me and the role I will play, and I’m here to be a positive addition to the squad as we strive to achieve our goals. It’s an opportunity I had to grab with both hands, and I can’t wait to be involved as soon as possible.”
