Joao Felix In Conor Gallagher Out: Chelsea and Atletico Madrid Seal Transfer Deals

Chelsea have reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid for the permanent signing of Portugal forward Joao Felix. The 24-year-old has agreed personal terms on a six-year contract with the option of an additional 12 months.

The Athletic reported last week that the Premier League club had opened talks with their La Liga counterparts regarding a deal to sign Joao Felix. That came as Atletico striker Samu Omorodion’s proposed move to Stamford Bridge appeared to collapse due to problems finalising the Spaniard’s contract.

Joao Felix previously spent the second half of the 2022-23 season on loan at Chelsea, scoring four goals in 20 appearances for the Premier League club. He then spent last term on loan at Barcelona, registering 10 goals and six assists in 44 games.

Conor Gallagher’s move to Atletico Madrid is expected to proceed after Chelsea agreed a deal to sign Joao Felix from the Spanish club.

The Athletic reported earlier on Monday that Chelsea had agreed a deal to re-sign Joao Felix and had agreed a six-year contract with the option of an additional 12 months with the 24-year-old. Gallagher has since been granted permission to travel to Madrid on Tuesday in order to complete his move.

The England midfielder travelled to Spain to finalise a €42 million (£36m) move in early August after agreeing personal terms and underwent a medical only for the transfer to stall.
